Billy Gomberg lives in San Francisco, California. His practice incorporates traditional & modern synthesis, digital treatments, acoustic recordings and occasional instrumentation.

2022’s Wilderness and Luxury on Dasa Tapes articulates shifts and returns grown from living in California. New locations, rediscovered materials and techniques finding a poetic perspective on topographies of experience, threading urban environments, and natural (built) spaces.

Billy’s solo LP Slight At That Contact was pressed by Students of Decay and released in October 2016.  Billy’s recent cassettes Transition and Beginners, were released in 2017 and 2018 (respectively) on Dinzu Artefacts, with A Changed Meaning issued by Strange Rules coming between them. Billy’s published recordings stretch back to 2005, including 2009’s touchstone Comme.

Extinguishment, a duo with Andy Guthrie under the name Fraufraulein, was released by Another Timbre in early 2015, and their follow-up Heavy Objects was released by Marginal Frequencies in 2017. Solum was released on Notice Recordings in 2021.
